The band founded in 1978 in New York by Lyn Byrd (keyboards, vocals), Oliver North (guitar, vocals) and Nic North (bass, vocals). Authors of miniature hits, friends with a certain Étienne Daho, perpetually balancing between the warmth of soul and the chill of new-wave, the Comateens recorded three albums, including the precursor of electro-rock: Pictures On a String (1983). After marrying Kraftwerk's synthesizing with the Spectorian sound spectrum, the Comateens split up in 1985. Guitarist Oliver North died in 1987.
