Conjunto Primavera

With over four decades of performing and recording history, Conjunto Primavera is one of the most respected and popular groups in Regional Mexican music. They specialize in the Norteño-Sax subgenre. The group formed in 1978 in the city of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, under the leadership of saxophonist Juan Dominguez The group performed locally for many years and signed with the American label Joey Records in 1980. Conjunto Primavera went on to record popular versions of standards such as “La Sirenita” and “Noches Eternas.” In the mid 80s, the group would develop their trademark romantic style, with a strong keyboard and saxophone presence. In 1993, after lead singer Nacho Galindo left the group and was replaced by Tony Melendez, the group signed a deal with AFG Sigma Records. This led to a breakthrough success with “Me Nortie.” Since then, Conjunto Primavera has gone on to record several successful releases, as well as achieving critical acclaim and award nominations. The group received the Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. Their album Amor Amor was awarded Best Norteño Album at the 15th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2014. In 2016, the group collaborated with Argentine-Venezuelan singer and songwriter Ricardo Montaner on the track “Déjame Llorar,” a duet remake of Montaner’s 1991 hit song.
