Converge

Trailblazing metalcore outfit Converge emerged from the Boston underground scene in the early 1990s with their jazz-infused calisthenics and hardcore punk attitude. Founded in Salem, Massachusetts, by lead vocalist Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou in 1990, the group's lineup was completed with the addition of bassist Jeff Feinburg and drummer Damon Bellorado. After a series of well-received LPs in the mid-1990s, including Halo in a Haystack (1994), Petitioning the Empty Sky (1996), and When Forever Comes Crashing (1998), the band finally hit its stride with 2001's Jane Doe, a critically acclaimed release that put them at the forefront of the American metalcore scene and earned them a cult following. The album's success led to a record deal with Epitaph Records, which released their major-label debut You Fail Me in 2004. Converge continued expanding their sonic palette on releases such as No Heroes (2006), the collab-heavy Axe to Fall (2009), and All We Love We Leave Behind (2012), their first album to crack the Top 10 of the US rock charts. The Dusk in Us, the group's first LP in five years, appeared in 2017 and became a genuine crossover success after reaching Number 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock chart and Number 60 on the Billboard 200. In 2021, Converge joined forces with American singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe on the full-length Bloodmoon: I, which went to Number 59 on the German charts.
