Cookie Dingler

Cookie Dingler is the band behind a single hit, "Femme libérée", which marked the 1980s. Hailing from Strasbourg, it was formed by Christian Dingler, nicknamed "Cookie" (b. 1947), singer, keyboardist and composer, backed by musicians Paul Boulak (vocals, guitar), Frédéric Koëlla (guitar), Joël Montemagni (bass), Jean-Michel Biger (drums) and Alexandre Theoval (percussion). Composed by Dingler to lyrics by his neighbor Joëlle Kopf (1950-2019), who would go on to write for Zazie, Patricia Kaas, Calogero, Maxime Le Forestier and Mireille Mathieu, the song "Femme libérée" received rave reviews on the airwaves before climbing to #2 on the very first Top 50 chart, on November 4, 1984. Present for 18 weeks, the reggae-pop-tinged hit gave rise to an album of the same name, including the following single "Faut pas rêver". After two more singles, "Eva, Zoé, Macha et les autres..." (1985) and "Cou tout noué " (1986), the group disbanded and Christian Dingler devoted himself to acting, before being asked to take part in the 1998 Enfoirés concert at the Zénith in Paris. In 2007, he joined the RFM Party 80 tour, which was repeated in 2012 under the title Best of RFM Party 80, and took part in the Stars 80 film, after collaborating on Léopold Nord's album in 2009.
