Canadian alternative country band Cowboy Junkies is the brainchild of founder members and childhood friends Alan Anton and Michael Timmins. Anton and Timmins had been in a punk band together and garnered some experience of the music business. One of their projects, an experimental band called Germinal, relied on the members playing whatever they wanted, regardless of what the other musicians were playing, pushing the boundaries of musical exploration. After returning from Europe Anton and Timmins decided a new, more melodic project was required and Cowboy Junkies was born. Augmented by various members of the Timmins family at different times, the band have grown into a platinum selling act with considerable chart success in Canada and the US. The group have 16 albums to their credit with their 1988 album 'The Trinity Session' achieving the most commercial success with a double platinum rating. The band's career spans more than three decades and they continue to be a popular live attraction on the alternative country scene, releasing their 17th studio album, 'All That Reckoning', in 2018.
