Formed by singer Chino Moreno (best known as frontman of the metal band Deftones) and Shaun Lopez (best known as guitarist for the post-hardcore act Far), Crosses is a dark wave duo launched in 2011 in Los Angeles, California. The group's debut release, EP 1, was independently released that same year, with Lopez pulling double-duty as Crosses' guitarist and producer. A follow-up EP, EP 2, arrived the next year and reached number 8 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Both records served as a precursor to Crosses' self-titled debut record, Crosses, which was released in 2014 and received critical acclaim for its dreamy mix of electronic rock, trip hop, and shoegaze. It also marked the band's first time reaching the Billboard 200, where Crosses peaked at number 24. "The Epilogue," the record's most successful single, hit number 27 on the Alternative Airplay chart and number 40 on Mainstream Rock. Months after the album's release, Crosses released another EP, EP 3, then embarked upon a hiatus from the recording studio. Permanent Radiant, Crosses' fourth EP, arrived in 2022, featuring singles like "Day One" and "Sensation." Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete., the band's first full-length album in nine years, followed in October 2023, reaching number 139 on the Billboard 200 and featuring the single "Invisible Hand," which reached number 31 on the Alternative Airplay chart.
