Current Joys

Current Joys is the pseudonym of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Rattigan (August 6, 1992). Born in Henderson, Nevada, Rattigan taught himself how to play guitar through online tablatures and took drum lessons at the age of 8. He started writing and releasing music under the moniker The Nicholas Project between 2011 and 2012 and then issued his official debut album Wild Heart as TELE/VISIONS in 2013. That same year, he joined the indie surf rock band Surf Curse and released the EPs Young Love, No One Will Dance, and Neon Hell. Another extended play titled 2013 arrived in 2014, followed by 2015’s Oh My Mirror. After dropping the single “Kids” in 2016, Rattigan changed his stage name to Current Joys and re-released his entire catalog under that moniker. Following the release of the collaborative EP Split (2017) with labelmate BOYO, Current Joys delivered the full-length A Different Age (2018), which included the plaintive, slow-paced track “Alabama.” Preceded by the singles “Amateur,” “American Honey,” and “Money Making Machine,” his fourth LP Voyager saw the light in May 2021.
