Daisy Jones & the Six is a fictional soft-rock band from the TV miniseries and popular novel of the same name. The group was conceived by author Taylor Jenkins Reid, who released her book Daisy Jones & the Six — the mythical account of a rock band during the late 1970s, inspired by Fleetwood Mac — in 2019. The book won several literary awards and was adapted into a miniseries by Amazon Studios, with the first episode premiering in early March 2023. Each episode featured original music written by a roster of composers, producers, and sidemen, including lead songwriter Blake Mills, folk-rock icon Jackson Browne, Grammy nominee Phoebe Bridges, and Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford. Although the actors who portrayed Daisy Jones & the Six's members didn't play their instruments on the show's accompanying soundtrack, the two lead actors — Riley Keough (Elvis' granddaughter) and Sam Claflin — performed their own vocals, accompanied by instrumentalists like Madison Cunningham and Roger Joseph Manning Jr. 11 of those songs were released in March 2023 under the name Aurora, the same title as Daisy Jones & the Six's fictitious debut album in the show. Although Aurora didn't enjoy the same chart-topping, multi-platinum success as it did in the show's fabricated storyline, the soundtrack was a modest hit nonetheless, reaching Number 96 on the Billboard 200.
