Dan ar Braz met Alan Stivell in 1968, and accompanied him on guitar for ten years. In 1972, Daniel Legrand "Bretonized" his name and became Dan ar Braz. In 1977, he released his first album, "Douar Nevez", about the legend of the town of Ys. For the next ten years or so, he travelled and pursued a solo career. In 1993, at the Cornouaille Festival, Dan ar Braz had a huge success, playing with L'héritage des Celtes, a fifty-strong band created for the occasion. The following year, the album "L'héritage des Celtes" was a great success. 1997 saw the release of "Finis-terres", which won the Victoires de la Musique award for best traditional music album. In 1998, the success of Dan ar Braz's concert at Le Zénith was recorded on a double CD.
