Singer, songwriter and composer of the hits "Suzette" and "Quand je vois tes yeux", Dany Brillant has found his style in the crooner genre, with a predilection for retro covers of jazz standards. He was born in Tunis on December 28, 1965, and grew up in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois when his parents moved to France, then Paris. Attracted to the arts, he learned to play guitar and enrolled at the Cours Florent in the hope of becoming an actor. " Suzette" was already in the repertoire of the jazz band he formed in 1986, between extra roles during the lean years, before he enjoyed national success with the album C'Est Ça Qui Est Bon (1991), which immediately established his image as a retro crooner. In 1993, his second album C'Est Toi brought him a run at the Olympia and then the Casino de Paris, while his follow-up Havana (1996), recorded in Cuba and reaching No. 10 in the charts, included the salsa-tinged hit "Quand je vois tes yeux" and went platinum. Dany Brillant then moved to London to record the varied album Nouveau Jour (1999), then to Rome for the sensual Dolce Vita (2001) and to Louisiana for Jazz... à La Nouvelle-Orléans (2004). In 2007, the cover version of Histoire d'Un Amour was a Latin-American dance triumph, reaching No. 3. A hugely popular performer, he fills venues across France between recordings, including Puerto Rico in 2009, Le Dernier Romantique in 2014 and Rock and Swing in 2018. This time, his fame led him to play roles in major film productions, including La Vérité si je mens ! 3 in 2012, as well as in TV series and even on stage. He dedicates two albums to Charles Aznavour, one solo entitled La Bohème (2020) and the other as a duo in 2021, with a host of stars including Pascal Obispo, Patrick Fiori, Patrick Bruel, Florent Pagny, Carla Bruni, Garou, Bénabar and Chimène Badi. In 2024, his thirteenth album, Seventies, is released.
