Dasha

Pop and country singer Dasha was born Anna Dasha Novotny on February 27, 2000, in San Luis Obispo, California. She began her musical career with the R&B/hip-hop-influenced single “Don’t Mean a Thing” in 2020. She followed the same musical path on further singles including 2020’s “None of My Business” and “Better Than She Did” as well as 2021’s “$hiny Things” and “21st Birthday” before releasing the Shiny Things EP that year. Mixing R&B, hip-hop, pop, and acoustic folk, she continued to release a series of singles – including “Nervous,” “Talk,” “Going Nowhere,” “Fuck You,” “Vegas”, and “Wish That You Were Here” – before collecting them all on her debut album Dirty Blonde (2023), which also featured several new recordings. Dasha began to move away from her strong R&B foundation and embrace pop/country music with the release of singles “Even Cowboys Cry,” “Austin,” “King of California” and “42” before the release of her second studio full-length What Happens Now? (2024). The album brought her to the attention of a larger pop/country music audience, who embraced her new sound. The song “Austin” became her first charting Billboard single and What Happens Now? reached number 117 on the Billboard 200 while also charting in Canada, the Netherlands, and France, where it peaked at number 187.
