Davi Sacer

Davi Sacer, born Davi Amorim de Oliveira on November 30, 1975, in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil, is a contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He gained prominence as the lead vocalist and a key songwriter for the bands Toque no Altar and Trazendo a Arca. The youngest child in a family of eleven, Davi faced significant challenges from an early age. At six months old, he developed poliomyelitis, leaving him unable to walk. Miraculously, at three years old, he began to walk during a prayer meeting, despite later difficulties related to the disease. Music became a part of Davi's life early on, inspired by his siblings' musical inclinations. At eight, he started singing in a band after his brother Moisés recognized his talent. Although he recorded albums three times in his youth, none went into production. Davi Sacer's commitment to music led him to drop out of high school to join Jovens Com Uma Missão (JOCUM), where he recorded his first compositions. It was here he met his wife, Verônica Sacer. After working with Cláudio Claro, he joined the Ministério Apascentar in Nova Iguaçu, adopting the stage name "Sacer" and becoming the lead vocalist during a period of transition for the church. Sacer's career took off with the success of Toque no Altar's debut album in 2003, which sold over 500,000 copies. He continued to achieve great success with both Toque no Altar and Trazendo a Arca, receiving numerous awards and recognitions, including Troféu Talento awards. Despite internal conflicts leading to his departure from Toque no Altar, Davi and some members formed Trazendo a Arca, continuing their success with albums like Restituição (2003), Deus de Promessas (2005), Olha pra Mim (2006), and Marca da Promessa (2007), all certified diamond in Brazil. As a solo artist, Davi Sacer has enjoyed great popularity in the Christian music scene, starting with his gold-certified studio debut Deus não Falhará (2008) and other releases such as Confio em Ti (2010), No Caminho do Milagre (2011), Venha o Teu Reino (2014), and DNA (2017). In 2022, Davi Sacer surprised his fans with the release of the LP Acústico Volume 1, followed by the EP Davi Sacer e Amigos later that year, featuring a cameo by his wife Veronica Sacer as well as two songs with Simone & Simaria.
