Electronic music artist David Nattkemper was born in Hamburg, Germany on July 7, 1990. He is better known by his stage name David August. At the age of 5, he learned to play piano but moved his attention towards electronic music by the time he reached his teens. In 2009, he released his debut EP, Trumpets Victory, as well as remixes for other artists. In 2010, he released the EPs His Sweden Roof and Instant Harmony. His 2011 EP Peace of Conscience featuring the critically-acclaimed track “Hamburg is for Lovers”. August released his debut album, Times, in 2013. After the success of the album and subsequent singles, August won the fourth place award as one of Resident Advisor’s best live acts of 2014 and 2015. He then embarked on a PHD in sound design and worked with Greek harpist/singer Sissi Rada on emotionally heavy and politically charged music. He also performed three sold out nights with the 50-piece Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. He released his sophomore album DCXXXIX A.C in 2018. That same year, he issued the album D’Angelo, which was more experimental and downtempo than his previous releases.
