The genre-melding country singer and social media influencer David Morris hails from Charleston, West Virginia. Inspired by traditional country music, modern pop, trap, and hip-hop, he made his studio debut in 2020 with Red, White & American Blues. The stylistically diverse album featured songs like "Who Hurt You" and "Does He Know About Us," both of which earned more than 10 million streams on Spotify despite failing to appear on the Billboard charts. That viral popularity increased in 2022, when Morris released "Dutton Ranch Freestyle." Featuring a drumbeat played on a can of chewing tobacco and lyrics about the TV show Yellowstone, the song reached Number 1 on the Billboard Digital Sales chart and number 37 on the Top 50 Country Song chart. It also became the most-played country song on TikTok, confirming Morris' status as a social media star. Another full-length album, Hometown Heartbreak, was released that same year and featured the single "Carrying Your Love," which appeared on the Shazam charts in America, Singapore, Canada, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. David Morris released a string of singles in 2023, including "I Hate This Job," "Jenny's Song," and "Proud of You." His third album, Bored in the USA, followed in November 2023.
