Deadsy

Known for their extravagant, theatrical live performances, American industrial rockers Deadsy jumped on the late 90s/early 2000s metal music bandwagon championed by nu-metal heavyweights Korn and Limp Bizkit. Formed in Los Angeles in 1995 by Elijah Blue Allman, Alec Puro, and Renn Hawkey, the band cut a handful of demos that garnered the attention of Sire Records, who released their eponymous studio debut in 1997. The band relocated temporarily to New York City to work with producer Marc Jordan on their sophomore effort Commencement, which was shelved after they were dropped from the label. Shortly after, Korn’s Jonathan Davis signed the band to their brand new Elementree Records. Commencement, their highly-anticipated second full-length, finally saw the light in 2002 and managed to break into the Billboard 200 thanks to the singles “The Key to Gramercy Park,” “Mansion World,” and “Brand New Love.” However, the album did not perform as expected and Deadsy found themselves without a label once again. A third album titled Phantasmagore arrived in 2003 via Immortal Records, peaking at Number 17 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. In 2007, the band announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus to focus on their respective projects. Deadsy’s founding members regrouped in 2018 to play a show opening for Queens of the Stone Age at San Quentin Prison. In 2020, they revealed their new album Subterfugue would be released sometime during 2021.
