Dean Brody

Dean Brody – born on August 12, 1975, in Smithers, British Columbia, Canada – is an award-winning country music artist. Growing up in Jaffray, British Columbia, he pursued music as a career, briefly moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004 in order to fulfill his musical dream. Finally establishing himself and signing a songwriting contract, his US work permit expired, and he reluctantly moved back to Canada. In 2008, he was encouraged to move back to Nashville by iconic producer Keith Stegall, who helped him land a contract with Broken Bow Records. Dean Brody’s first single, “Brothers” (2008), landed in the Canadian Country Singles chart at number 10 and hit the Top 30 on the US Country Singles chart. However, he had been involved in a waterskiing accident shortly before the single’s release, which required extensive reconstructive surgery. However, that didn’t stop him from moving forward with his music career and, in 2009, he released the Top 10 singles “Dirt Road Scholar” and “Undone” plus his self-titled debut album. The single “Brothers” won him his first CCMA (for Single of the Year), which led to many other nominations and wins over the next decade. His second album, Trail in Life (2010), earned him CCMAs for Album of the Year and the title track earned him awards for Single of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. The album Dirt (2012) won awards for Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year while 2013’s Crop Circles won the JUNO Award for Country Album of the Year. His chart successes and string of awards continued with his albums Gypsy Road (2015), Beautiful Freakshow (2016), and the Black Sheep EP (2019). Dean Brody’s 2020 album Boys featured three number 1 singles including “Canadian Summer”, which was the most played song ever on Canadian country radio in a single week. In March 2022, he released the single “Where’d You Learn How To Do That,” which hit number 1 on the Canadian Country Music Singles chart. The single was the first track to be released from his eighth studio album, Right Round Here, which was released in September 2023. The album also included the singles “You Got the Wrong Guy” (number 4), “Broke” (number 37), and “Right Round Here” (number 50). Throughout his career, Dean Brody has won two Juno Awards (Country Album of the Year in 2012 and 2014) and 12 Canadian Country Music Association awards including Single of the Year (2009, 2011), Album of the Year (2011, 2012, and 2014), Songwriter of the Year (2011, 2017), Male Artist of the Year (2012, 2013), and more.
