Dear Rouge

Juno Award-winning husband and wife alternative rock and dance-rock duo Dear Rouge aka Drew and Danielle McTaggart met as touring musicians in separate projects before coming together to form the band in 2012. The Vancouver-based band self-released their debut EP Heads Up! Watch Out! on their Bandcamp page and their second EP, Kids Wanna Know, came six months later. The success of their self-released breakout single "I Heard I Had" – which went to Number 3 on the Canadian alternative rock chart and also won the 2015 SOCAN Songwriting Prize for emerging artists – led to a signing with the Canadian branch of Universal Music Group in 2014 and their debut album, Black to Gold, was released on the label the following year. The singles from the album "I Heard I Had", "Best Look Lately", "Black to Gold", and "Tongues" all charted in the Top 15 on the Canadian Alternative Rock charts. In 2016, Dear Rouge won the Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year and performed "I Heard I Had" on the live broadcast on April 3, 2016. Their second full-length LP, Phases, was released in 2018 and earned the band Pop Artist of the Year and Songwriters of the Year for album track "Chains" at the 2018 Western Canadian Music Awards. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the album, a deluxe version of Phases was released featuring five additional previously unreleased tracks. The pair's third full-length album, Spirit, was released in April 2022. In 2024, the single "Goon" peaked at No. 5 on the Canadian Billboard rock charts, paving the way for fourth album Lonesome High.
