Desejo de Menina, formed in 2003 in Petrolina, Pernambuco, quickly became a leading name in forró eletrônico, known for their romantic style and smooth vocal harmonies. Their early albums, De Corpo, Alma e Coração (2004) and Estórias (2005), introduced hits like "Sonhos e Planos" and "Vida Vazia," establishing their presence in the genre. The release of Diga Sim (2008) and their second DVD, recorded in João Pessoa, further solidified their popularity, earning them the title of "Banda de Forró do Ano" in 2008. Over the years, the band saw multiple lineup changes, with vocalists such as Mirella Vieira, Lenno Ferreira, Yara Tchê, and Alessandro Costa shaping their sound. Their discography expanded with Esperando Você (2010), Cumplicidade (2011), and Sem Medo (2013), maintaining their signature blend of romantic forró. The group faced internal shifts, including the 2018 return of Yara and Alessandro as co-owners, before their exit in 2024, paving the way for the return of Mirella and Lenno. Celebrating 21 years, they released Desejo Nostálgico (2024) and Essência: Parte 1, marking a new era while honoring their legacy as pioneers of romantic forró.
