Detlev Jöcker (born October 5, 1951 in Münster) is one of the most successful German composers and performers of children's songs and a pioneer of early musical movement education. The former music student, who performed in Peter Janssen's vocal orchestra as a young man, found his Christian faith at an early age. His wife died young and the single father took care of his two children - often composing songs for them. He soon releases these as singles and celebrates great success with children's songs such as "1,2,3 im Sauseschritt" (1985, "Sei Gegrüßt, Lieber Nikolaus" (1997) and "Heute Muss Ich Häuser Bauen" (2016) and albums such as Kleine Kerze Leuchte (2001) and Tamusiland (2010): he sells over 13 million records and is awarded nine gold and seven platinum records. He works on behalf of the Goethe-Institut, is an ambassador for the Peres Foundation, composes for children's programs and radio plays, sells around 800,000 tickets for his live shows and has released around 500 records in thirty years as a musician.
