Die Toten Hosen

Die Toten Hosen are a German band from Düsseldorf. Their musical roots lie in the punk scene. The musical mainstay of the time, the Ratinger Hof in Düsseldorf, was the birthplace of the band in 1982, who until then had made music under the name ZK. The Toten Hosen's self-produced debut album, Opel Gang (1983), and the single "Eisgekühlter Bommerlunder" are still regarded as party classics today. The Toten Hosen soon achieved a certain cult status, particularly through extensive tours in Germany. Their first commercial successes came with the albums Damenwahl (1986) and Ein Kleines Bißchen Horrorschau (1988). The single "Hier kommt Alex" (Here comes Alex) on these albums brought the Toten Hosen their first entry in the singles charts. Everything that followed was a success story. Every other Toten Hosen album reached the top positions in the charts and achieved gold and platinum status several times. Songs such as "Azzurro", "Wünsch Dir Was", "Bonnie & Clyde", "Zehn Kleine Jägermeister", "Pushed Again", "Bayern", "Tage Wie Diese" and "Unter Den Wolken" were known by almost every child in Germany. Die Toten Hosen have won the German music award Echo several times, most recently in 2018 in the national rock category. As a live band, Die Toten Hosen regularly fill the big arenas in Germany. There are several books and films about the band. Singer Campino (Andreas Frege) has also tried his hand at writing books and occasionally appears as an actor. In 2023, a remixed version of the debut album Opel Gang was released to mark the band's 40th anniversary and climbed to number 3 in the German album charts.
