The British electronic duo DJ Luck & MC Neat (born, respectively, Joel Samuels and Michael Rose) began collaborating in 1998, and were eventually recognized as one of the originators of a genre that became known as UK garage. Luck was already an established DJ and Neat had learned vocal delivery on various pirate radio stations. Their 1999 album A Little Bit of Luck spun off three top 10 singles: The title track, “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us”, and “Masterblaster 2000”, which was on the Stevie Wonder classic “Master Blaster (Jammin)”. After collaborating with Shy Cookie, they evolved and began to create more of their sounds than to rely on samples, and became a huge live act in their home country thanks to their commitment to performing. A pair of 2001 singles, “Piano Loco” and “I’m All About You”, both cracked the top 20.
