Doctor Krápula is a Colombian ska punk band formed in Bogotá in 1998. The original lineup included Mario Muñoz, David Jaramillo, Germán Martínez, Sergio Acosta, Nicolás Cabrera, Dib Hadra Arciniégas, and Freddy Caldas. Over the years, the band has become known for its fusion of ska, reggae, punk, rocksteady, and tropical rhythms, along with their politically charged lyrics and progressive activism. After establishing themselves in the live music scene during the late 1990s and early 2000s, the band released their debut album, El Carnaval de la Apatilla (2002). This was followed by Dele la Wuelta al Disco (2003), Bombea (2005), and Sagrado Corazón (2008). With each release, the band's profile grew in Colombia and throughout Latin America. 2011 saw the release of a live CD/DVD, Corazón Bombea Vivo, capturing their live performances. Viva el Planeta, released in 2012, continued their environmental and social activism, and it earned a gold record in 2013. Ama-Zonas (2014) was a collaborative album made with the Jaguar Collective. In 2016, the band was honored with the Simón Bolívar Order of Democracy for their environmental efforts. They continue to produce music and advocate for social and environmental causes, releasing albums like ANIMAL in 2017, Viva Doctor Krápula in 2018, and Calle Caliente in 2021.
