Dogstar

Formed in Los Angeles, California, Dogstar is perhaps best known as the musical project of film star Keanu Reeves. A bass player in addition to a Hollywood A-lister, Keanu Reeves co-founded the alternative-rock band with drummer Robert Kenneth Mailhouse in 1991. Gregg Miller joined the lineup one year later, serving as Dogstar's original singer and guitarist. A second guitar-playing vocalist, Bret Domrose, joined in 1994, and the group opened for acts like David Bowie and Bon Jovi before Miller left the lineup in 1995. Quattro Formaggi, the band's debut EP, was released one year later, followed by the full-length album Our Little Visionary in September 1996. Although initially associated with grunge music, Dogstar expanded its sound with the band's second album, Happy Ending. Released in 2000, Happy Ending marked the group's final release for two decades, with Domrose launching a solo career during the ensuing hiatus and Reeves focusing on his acting commitments. The band reunited for a live performance in May 2023 and subsequently recorded a third album with producer Dave Trumfio. The result, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, was released in October 2023, with the single "Everything Turns Around" reaching number 48 on the Top 100 Hot Songs JWAVE chart in Japan.
