Donatella Rettore

Born on 8 July 1955 in Castelfranco Veneto, Donatella Rettore is an eclectic Italian singer-songwriter and actress, renowned for her fusion of pop, rock, and new wave. Her career took off in the 1970s with a more traditional pop-rooted style, but she gained widespread recognition in the late 1970s and 1980s by embracing a rebellious, avant-garde image and sound. Her breakthrough came with the 1979 album Brivido Divino, followed by Magnifico Delirio (1980), which solidified her as a leading figure in Italian glam rock and synth-pop. Her biggest hits, such as "Splendido Splendente" (1979), "Kobra" (1980), and "Lamette" (1982) were all Top 10 hits in Italy, anthems of irreverence and individuality. Known for her theatrical stage presence, flamboyant fashion, and fearless artistic choices, Rettore has remained a cult figure in Italian music. Over the decades, she has continued to release music, collaborate with contemporary artists, and perform live, maintaining a dedicated fanbase. Her most recent album, Rettoressa, arrived in 2024.
