Dope Lemon is the brainchild of Australian singer-songwriter Angus Stone (April 27, 1986), who first rose to fame as one half of the sibling indie-pop duo Angus & Julia Stone. Since the beginning of his career in 2006, he has performed and recorded as Lady of the Sunshine, as well as under his own name, releasing a handful of critically acclaimed albums such as Smoking Gun (2009) and Broken Brights (2012). In 2016, Angus Stone made his official debut as Dope Lemon with the full-length Honey Bones, recorded in his own farm studio with the help of former collaborators Rohin Brown (The Walking Who) and Elliott Hammond (The Delta Riggs). The album reached Number 11 on the ARIA charts and was followed by the EP Hounds Tooth in early 2017. Dope Lemon’s sophomore effort, Smooth Big Cat, appeared in 2019 and went to Number 2 in Australia. Preceded by the mellow haze of its title track, which cracked the Top 40 in the US, the day/night concept album Rose Pink Cadillac hit the shelves in 2022 and quickly rose to the top spots of the ARIA Albums Chart.
