A British synth pop and new wave band born in Birmingham in the early 1980s, Duran Duran enjoyed rapid success with their first albums, Duran Duran (No. 3 in 1981), Rio (No. 2 in 1982) and above all Seven and the Ragged Tiger (No. 1 in 1983), at the start of the music video era, which greatly contributed to their popular success, both in the UK and in the USA, where the band enjoyed a star on the Hollywood Boulevard "Walk of Fame" in Los Angeles. After 1985, with the hits "Girls on Film" (No. 5) and "Hungry Like the Wolf" (No. 5), things were more mixed for the still-productive band. With fourteen Top 10 hits, including the chart-toppers "Is There Something I Should Know?" and "The Reflex", Duran Duran remains one of England's leading pop bands. Thirty years after their debut and without interruption, the band's singer Simon LeBon returns to his original line-up for his thirteenth album All You Need Is Now (No. 11 in 2010), produced by Mark Ronson. In 2015, Mark Ronson and Nile Rodgers were at the helm of Paper Gods (#5). We had to wait another six years for Duran Duran to add a new opus to their discography. Entitled Future Past, it was co-produced by the band alongside Mark Ronson, Giorgio Moroder and Erol Alkan, and featured guests such as Tove Lo, Ivorian Doll, Japanese band Chai and Mike Garson. Blur guitarist Graham Coxon plays on the entire album, which reaches No. 3. In 2023, Nile Rodgers, Mr. Hudson and Josh Blair joined the band for Danse Macabre, which reached No. 4 and featured covers by Cerrone, Billie Eilish, The Rolling Stones, The Specials, Talking Heads and Siouxsie & the Banshees. Its expanded version, Danse Macabre: De Luxe, adds Electric Light Orchestra's "Evil Woman".
