El Riqué

El Riqué, born Mauricio Becerra in Monterrey, Nuevo León, is a Mexican singer-songwriter and poet whose blend of trova, bossa nova, pop, reggae, and rap has positioned him as one of the most promising voices in Latin indie music. After leaving a corporate job in 2022 to travel across Europe, where a series of serendipitous musical encounters reignited his passion for songwriting, he returned to Mexico and began releasing music independently. What began as a handful of scattered singles soon evolved into a cohesive project, culminating in the release of his debut album Scratch De Versos, a deeply introspective and sonically eclectic record built on themes of love, heartbreak, psychology, quantum physics, and the search for authenticity. The album, released under Palapa Records, earned him a nomination for Best Singer-Songwriter Album at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards and features standout tracks like "Materia gris," "Paradoja," "99,99%," "¿Cómo estás?," and "Solipsismo." Known for his genre-bedngin style, El Riqué draws inspiration from artists like Silvio Rodríguez, Jorge Drexler, and Muerdo, combining lyrical depth with genre fluidity. In 2024, he launched his first South American tour, Versos bajo el Trópico, bringing his guitar, storytelling, and voice to new audiences.
