El Último de la Fila

El Último de la Fila, formed in Barcelona by Manolo García and Quimi Portet, became one of Spain’s most influential rock bands in the 1980s and 1990s, blending rock with flamenco, Arab, and Latin influences. Emerging from the remnants of Los Rápidos and Los Burros, they found success with their debut album Cuando la pobreza entra por la puerta, el amor salta por la ventana (1985), quickly followed by Enemigos de lo ajeno (1986), which included the iconic "Insurrección." Their unique style evolved with Como la cabeza al sombrero (1988), earning them international recognition and an invitation to Amnesty International’s Human Rights Now! tour alongside Bruce Springsteen and Sting. The band’s popularity peaked in the early 1990s with Astronomía razonable (1993), featuring hits like "Como un burro amarrado en la puerta del baile" and "Mar antiguo." Their final studio album, La rebelión de los hombres rana (1995), showcased a darker, more introspective sound before their disbandment in 1998. After two decades apart, García and Portet reunited in 2023 to release Desbarajuste Piramidal, a reimagining of their greatest hits, reaffirming their enduring legacy in Spanish rock.
