Emma Steinbakken hails from Jessheim in southeastern Norway, where the pop singer was born on March 10, 2003. An inspired childhood prompted her to begin singing at 10 years old, and she performed in a local production of Annie during the final months of 2017. Starring in Annie only strengthened her desire to be onstage, and she began laying the brickwork for a career in entertainment. Two years later, she made her official debut as a singer/songwriter with the song "Without You," followed by "Young." During the latter half of 2019, she released her self-titled debut album, Emma Steinbakken, which featured the singles "Not Gonna Cry" and "Never Forgiving." She released a string of non-album singles throughout 2020, including songs like "Let's Blow Our Feelings Up with Dynamite," the Matoma duet "Wow," and the soundtrack song "Stay With Me," which appeared on the TV series Home for Christmas Season 2. "Stay With Me" became a national hit in 2021, reaching Number 18 on the Norwegian charts and remaining in the Top 40 for a month. Her next single, "Jeg glemmer deg aldri (fra Rådebank)," was even more successful, rocketing to Number 1 and remaining in the Top 40 for 15 consecutive weeks. As 2021 drew to a close, she reached Number 36 with another non-album single, "Sorry," and appeared on Alan Walker's "Not You." During the first three months of 2022, she charted two additional Top 40 singles with "Hopelessly Hopeless" and "This One's On Me." Later that year, she appeared on the Norwegian reality TV show Hver gang vi møtes, where she performed "Floden." The song proved to be yet another hit, reaching Number 5 that December. In 2023, she went to Number one on Norway yet again with "Delilah"—featured on the Norwegian reality show Hver gang vi møtes—and marked an exciting new chapter in her journey with her second album Home, propelled by a heartbreaking single and title track.
