One of the most important exponents of the narcocorrido genre, Enigma Norteño is a Regional Mexican music act created in Sinaloa in 2004 by Ernesto Barajas, Humberto Pérez, Freddy Hernández, and José Baldenegro. El Jardinero, their studio debut, was released in 2004. Two more albums followed before their breakthrough with Corridos de Altura in 2009. The album garnered significant success with its hit single "El Ondeado (M1)," which cracked the Top 40 of the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Its follow-up, Juego Prohibido, fared even better, with its top hit, "Aunque Sea en Silencio (Cuatro Paredes)," entering the Top 20 and further establishing the group's standing in the Regional Mexican music scene. Over the following years, they released successful albums like Y Si Supieras (2011) and Generales de Batalla (2012), featuring regional chart hits like "Que Seas Feliz" and "Se Te Olvidó." Their relentless touring, coupled with millions of views on their video-streaming channel, contributed significantly to their ever-growing popularity, not just in Mexico but also in the Southern US. Despite a brief lull, they made a triumphant return to the charts with the Top 20 single "Batallándola" from 2017's De Aquí Soy, reaching the Top 40 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. Enigma Norteño's winning streak continued throughout the following decade, with their 2020 Grupo Firme collaboration "No Estoy Perdiendo Nada" peaking at Number 47 on the Hot Latin Songs chart and 2022's "Aplaca Tus Berrinches" reaching Number 6 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. That year, the band issued the album Seguimos en el Ruedo, which featured a live version of their song "Ya Valiste Madre" that entered the Mexican Top 30 Radio Popular Songs chart at Number 25.
