Winner of the Swedish version of Idol in 2009, singer and guitarist Erik Grönwall has pursued a career in hard rock with the bands H.E.A.T. and Skid Row, alongside a solo career. Born in Knivsta on December 3, 1987, Per Erik Magnus Grönwall learned to play guitar and joined the heavy metal band Raid, before applying for the Idol TV show, first in 2007 and again in 2009, which he won with covers of Kiss, Skid Row, Queen and Iron Maiden. His solo career got off to a flying start with the hit "Higher", which reached No. 1 in the Swedish charts and was certified platinum in 2009. The first album to follow, Erik Grönwall, also proved a success, with its repertoire of varied pop, rock and hard rock covers. It also reached No.1 in the charts and went platinum. In 2010, the singer composed most of the tracks on Somewhere Between a Rock and a Hard Place, which also included a number of covers and reached No. 2. That same year, he became lead singer of the hard rock band H.E.A.T, with whom he stayed for a decade, recording four albums. He also made his musical comedy debut in 2018 in Jesus Christ Superstar. In 2021, he made a brief appearance with Jona Tee in New Horizon, when Skid Row offered him the position vacated by ZP Theart. Despite health problems, he took part in The Gang's All Here album (2022) and the tour that followed, before giving priority to treatment. He records two more cover albums, Eriksplanations, Vol. 1 (2023) and Eriksplanation, Vol. 2 (2025), as well as a muscular version of "House of the Rising Sun".
