A British and Japanese metal band, Esprit D'Air has since 2016 become the project of singer and guitarist Kai. Formed in London in 2010, it evolved into a band with the release that same year of a debut EP entitled Deai. What was originally a quintet became a quartet after the departure of guitarist Yuki. In 2012, the group with the French name signed The Hunter EP, and the following year an emblematic track from their repertoire, "Shizuku", appeared in the Rock Band video game and placed in several British charts. In 2013, it was singer Yoshisuke Suga's turn to leave the band, which integrated new musicians before taking an indefinite break. In 2016, Esprit D'Air was reborn as a trio led by Kai, guitarist, singer and principal composer, assisted by studio and stage musicians. This new formula gives rise to a tour including a concert at London's O2 Academy2 in March 2017, prior to the release of debut album Constellations. In March 2018, Esprit D'air wins Best Metal Album at the Independent Music Awards in New York. Sessions for the second album begin within the year, culminating in 2021 and the 2022 release of Oceans, which reaches #8 on the UK rock and metal album charts. Meanwhile, 10th Anniversary Live (2021) is released, following the concert at London's Dome on October 24, 2020. Esprit D'Air then returned to the studio to complete the album Seasons, released in 2024 with Live in Barcelona.
