Estopa

Brothers David and José Muñoz enjoyed singing and playing their guitars together from an early age. In 1999, they formed a band in their hometown of Cornellà and began releasing records, beginning with the self-titled album Estopa in 2001. Within a year, their fun flamenco style had attracted many fans and they became a top-selling band, with every one of their albums reaching number 1 on the Spanish Albums Chart. Their second album, Destrangis, was also released in 2001 and, following a cameo appearance in the 2003 film The 4th Floor directed by Antonio Mercero, they released the album ¿La Calle Es Tuya? (2004). In 2005, Estopa released their fourth album Voces de Ultrarumba. This sold 200,000 copies on the first day of its release and stayed atop the Spanish Albums Chart for 4 weeks. Their fifth full-length album Allenrok was released in 2008, followed by 2009's X Anniversarivm, which spent 86 weeks on the Spanish Albums Chart, including one week at number 1. The LP was released to coincide with their tenth anniversary and included remixes and re-releases of some of their more popular songs. This led to their first chart-topping single in 2010 with the song "El Run Run," which featured Spanish singer Rosario. Estopa's success continued with the release of the album 2.0 in 2011. The album peaked at number 1, and remained in the Spanish Albums Chart for the whole of 2012, spending 56 weeks on the charts. Their next album, Esto Es Estopa (2014) also achieved pole position in Spain and spent several months in the Top 10. This was followed by Rumba a lo Desconocido in 2015, which spent 56 weeks on the Spanish Albums Chart, including three weeks at Number 1. The band's second chart-topping hit single came in 2018, with the song "Vivir" featuring Spanish singer Rozalén, which featured on her 2018 album Cerrando Puntos Suspensivos. In 2019, the band released "Fuego" as a single and then an album of the same name which coincided with a national tour. Their 2022 collaborative single with rock group Fito y Fitipaldis, "Camiseta de Rokanrol," reached number 61 on the Spanish Singles Chart. Preceded by the singles "El Día Que Tú Te Marches," "La Rumba del Pescaílla," and "La Ranchera," the rumba-rock duo's eleventh album Estopía was released in 2024 to commemorate the group's 25th anniversary in the music scene.
