Eva Rydberg, born Eva Gunilla Johansson Rydberg on 20 June 1943, is a Swedish singer, actress, comedian, and dancer. Born in Malmö, she became involved in singing and acting at a very early age, joining a children's theater at Malmö Folkets Park. She took up ballet dancing in her teens, eventually joining the Knäppupp-Revue in Stockholm and touring the country with the group. Eva Rydberg quickly expanded to acting roles, joining the Odense Theater in Denmark in 1965, where she played the role of Anybody in their production of West Side Story. This opened the doors to a long career on stage, film and television, appearing in dozens of musical and comedy shows over an acclaimed career. In the 1970s, she released albums such as Eva med E and Sång à la Rydberg. In 1977, Eva Rydberg took part in the annual Swedish song competition Melodifestivalen, singing the song "Charlie Chaplin" which was composed by Tomas Ledin. She placed seventh in the competition. In 2021, she joined forces with fellow actress Ewa Roos for another shot at Melodifestivalen, performing the song "Rena Rama Ding Dong" together. A swinging rock-and-roll throwback, the catchy and whimsical tune was an instant crowd favorite.
