Exhorder

Exhorder is a heavy metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana, where frontman Kyle Thomas founded the group in 1985. Along with Pantera and Machine Head, the band is considered a pioneer of groove-oriented thrash metal. Exhorder self-released its first demo, Get Rude, in 1986, then signed with Roadrunner Records and returned in 1990 with a full-length debut album, Slaughter in the Vatican. Two years later, Exhorder ascended the throne of thrash metal with The Law, a critically-acclaimed record that became a classic of the genre. The band's career came to a temporary halt in 1994, when Exhorder broke up for more than a dozen years. A reunion followed in 2008, with the band resuming its touring schedule in 2009. After years of festival appearances, new material was released in 2019 with Mourn the Southern Skies, which introduced a reshuffled lineup that included longtime members like Vinnie LaBella and newer members like Marzi Montazeri. The album reached number 61 in Germany, number 65 in Switzerland, and number 83 in Scotland. Another album, Defectum Omnium, followed in March 2024, climbing to number 81 in Germany.
