Fat Joe

Born in the Bronx, New York, on August 19, 1970, Joseph Antonio Cartagena, aka Fat Joe, had a difficult childhood. Thanks to his brother, who introduced him to hip-hop, he found a way out. Initially a member of the Diggin' in the Crates (D.I.T.C.) collective, he signed to Relativity Records in 1993 and released his debut album Represent that year, followed in 1995 by Jealous One's Envy, which marked his commercial breakthrough with a notable presence in the Billboard 200 (#71). In 1998, Fat Joe released his third opus, Don Cartagena, the first distributed by Atlantic Records, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200, with contributions from Nas, Diddy, Big Pun, Raekwon, Jadakiss and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Fat Joe consolidated his position with a string of albums over the following years, including 2001's All or Nothing , 2006's Me, Myself and I and 2019's Family Ties with Dr. Dre. He also participated in a number of hit singles, with collaborations with Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, R. Kelly, Ja Rule, Wiz Khalifa and Ricky Martin, raising his profile beyond the rap sphere. In 2021, he released the single "Sunshine (The Light)", featuring DJ Khaled and Amorphous. His first album in five years, The World Changed on Me, was released in 2024, featuring collaborations with Dr. Dre, Ty Dolla $ign, Chris Rock and Anitta, with DJ Khaled on "Paradise" and Babyface on "I Got You".
