Femi Kuti is the son and successor of Fela Kuti. A saxophonist like his father, he brilliantly perpetuates the Afro-beat tradition and delivers a message of unity and African liberation. Shoki Shoki in 1998 was acclaimed by international critics, and the album's Shoki Remixed remixes demonstrate the modernity of Femi Kuti's rhythms. Day By Day was released in October 2008 and supported a major European tour. The album is remixed in Day by Day - Remixed Volume 1, released in 2010. At the end of the same year, the vehement Africa for Africa was released, a return to the roots of committed Afrobeat. Now a trumpet player, Femi Kuti released his seventh album, No Place for My Dream, in 2013.
