Force M.D.'s

R&B vocal group Force M.D.’s – sometimes referred to as Force MD’s - was formed in 1981 in Staten Island, New York. Formed by brothers Stevie D. Lundy, Antoine ‘TCD’ Lundy and Rodney ‘Khalil’ Lundy, their uncle Jessie Lee Daniels, and their friend Trisco Pearson, the group was initially called the L.D.’s before changing it to the Force M.C.’s when they collaborated with DJ R. Rock. Shortly after, they settled on the name Force M.D.’s and began performing on street corners in New York City. Staten Island ferry rides, and in Times Square. They were discovered and signed to Tommy Boy Records in 1984, releasing a series of well-received singles – “Let Me Love You”, “Forgive Me Girl”, and the Number 5 R&B hit “Tears” – before issuing their debut album, Love Letters, towards the end of 1984. They achieved their greatest success in 1985 with the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis-produced “Tender Love” singe, which was included on the Krush Groove soundtrack and Force M.D.’s second album, Chillin’. The group’s next album, Touch and Go, was released in 1987 and featured their first Number 1 R&B hit, “Love Is a House”. However, the group’s popularity began to wane and after the release of their 1990 album Step to Me, Trisco Pearson and Charles ‘Mercury’ Nelson, who had replaced Rodney ‘Khalil’ Lundy several years before, left the group and were replaced by Shawn Walters and, surprisingly, Rodney ‘Khalil’ Lundy. One more album followed – 1995’s Moments in Time – but the album didn’t chart. Charles ‘Mercury’ Nelson died from a heart attack on March 9, 1995 and was shortly followed by the death of Antoine ‘TCD’ Lundy – from Lou Gehrig’s Disease – on January 21, 1998. The remaining group members released the album The Reunion in 2000, although it was only a minor success. Trisco Pearson died of cancer on September 16, 2015. Jessie Lee Daniels passed away on January 4, 2022.
