French flutist and ensemble leader François Lazarevitch founded Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien in 2005, devoting himself to early music. Born in 1975, he is passionate about the baroque flute, and with his ensemble tackles the vast repertoire of early music, including traditional instrumental and vocal pieces, from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period, in France, Germany and Italy, but also in the kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland. In addition to concerts around the world, the ensemble has recorded a series of albums for Alpha Productions, showcasing the musical spectrum of the group and the eclecticism of its flutist and director. These include song and music collections Purcell: Songs & Dances with English countertenor Tim Mead (2003), Danses des Bergers, Danses des Loups: Musiques Traditionnelles au Cœur de la France (2005), À l'Ombre d'un Ormeau: Brunettes & Contredanses (2007), Le Berger Poète: Suites & Sonates pour Flûte & Musette (2009), La Veillée Imaginaire: Airs Populaires Harmonisés de Chopin à Canteloube with French soprano Françoise Masset (2010), Et la Fleur Vole: Airs à Danser & Airs de Cour Autour de 1600 (2010), For Ever Fortune: Scottish Music in the 18th Century with American tenor Robert Getchell (2012) and Je Voy le Bon Tens Venir: Polyphonies & Danses Autour de 1400 (2013). François Lazarevitch also leads his own career as a flautist and collaborates with other musicians. He took part with harpsichordist Bruno Procopio and violinist Patrick Bismuth in the album Rameau: Pièces de Clavecin en Concerts & Suite en la (2013), with choirmaster Sofi Jeanin and the Maîtrise de Radio France in the Noël Baroque recital (2016) and with Justin Taylor in the duo recording C.P.E. Bach: Sonatas for Flute and Fortepiano (2022). In 2017, the flutist recorded Telemann: 12 Fantasias for Solo Flute as soloist, followed in 2021 by Van Eyck: Der Fluyten Lust-Hof.
