A French and Swiss pianist born in Grenoble on August 18, 1989, François-Xavier Poizat studied at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève and the Juilliard School in New York, where his teachers included Alexeï Golovin, Evgueni Koroliov, Nelson Goerner and Matti Raekallio. After further training with Benedetto Lupo at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, he was invited by Martha Argerich to perform at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. Winner of several piano competitions, including the Special Jury Prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2011 and finalist at the Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey in 2013, he tours the world in recital and plays with major national orchestras. In addition to his role as musical director of Geneva's Festival Puplinge, he records the PianoOrchestra (2013) and PianoOrchestra 2 (2018) recitals for Ars Produktion, as well as Ginastera (2015) for Piano Classics. He signs with the Aparté label and achieves a tour de force with Ravel: The Complete Works with Piano (2024).
