Greta Simone Kline (March 21, 1994) is an American singer-songwriter who performs under the stage name Frankie Cosmos. The daughter of acclaimed actor Kevin Kline and actress Phoebe Cates, she grew up in a musical household and began playing piano and drums at a very young age, ultimately settling on guitar. During her late adolescence/early adulthood, she independently released a handful of lo-fi recordings under the pseudonym Ingrid Superstar, mainly via her own streaming channel. After adopting the alias Frankie Cosmos, given to her by ex-boyfriend Aaron Maine (of Porches fame), she released her official studio debut Zentropy in 2014, followed by the EP Fit Me In (2015) and her second full-length Next Thing (2016), which peaked at Number 13 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart thanks to the indie hit “Fool.” By the time she signed with Sub Pop Records in 2017, the project had evolved into a full-blown band that tirelessly toured the US and garnered praise from specialized media outlets. Preceded by the single “Jesse,” Vessel, their first album for Sub Pop, saw the light in early 2018. Featuring just herself on vocals and piano, her second EP Haunted Items came out in 2019. Close It Quietly, the band's fourth studio LP, arrived later that year.
