Freddie Gibbs

Real name Fredrick Jamel Tipton, American rapper Freddie Gibbs was born on June 14, 1982 in Gary, Indiana. In 2004, he made a name for himself by releasing back-to-back mixtapes under the name Full Metal Jackit: The Mixtape (volumes 1 and 2). The California sun beckoned, and he moved to Los Angeles in 2006 after signing with Interscope Records. Although he recorded a debut album, he was severely affected by changes at the label, which returned his contract. He returned briefly to Indiana, passing through Georgia, but producer Josh the Good convinced him to insist on returning to the City of Angels. He released a new mixtape in 2009, and teamed up with Dan Auerbach (Black Keys) in the group Pulled Over by the Cops (P.O.C.). But this didn't stop him from pursuing his solo career, with a string of mixtapes and albums. Bandana, due out in 2019, includes the provocative "Crime Pays". Three years later, $oul $old $eparately (2022) is his best chart result, reaching number 11 on the Billboard 200. The album, featuring collaborations with Rick Ross, Moneybagg Yo, Offset, Kelly Price, Pusha T, Musiq Soulchild, Anderson .Paak and Raekwon, was followed in 2024 by You Only Die 1nce, the follow-up to You Only Live 2wice, released six years earlier.
