The German jazz pop band Fritz Brause were established in 1983 and rose to prominence in 1985 with the release of their critically-acclaimed album 'Shilly Shally'. Critics have compared the band to a variety of famous jazz-influenced bands including Matt Bianco, Shakatak and Swing Out Sister. In its original incarnation, the band's distinctive vocal style was provided by singer Sabine Spiesekorn who was with the band for their first two albums but left in 1987 to pursue a teaching career. Spiesekorn was replaced by Linda Fields who debuted on the band's 1989 album 'Don't Go'. By the late 1990s the impetus created by the success of 'Shilly Shally' had all but disappeared and the band's appeal had begun to fade. A reunion gig with Sabine Spiesekorn rekindled interest among their fan base and in 2001 the band recorded their final album 'Five'. Although their recording career seems to be over the band still enjoy a following for their sporadic live appearances.
