Front 242 is the founder of the Electric Body Music movement, or industrial dance music. From 1981 onwards, the Belgian band developed its own distinctive identity, gaining an international dimension with Official Version in 1987, Front by Front in 1988 and the title track "Headhunter ", which rocketed up the alternative charts in the USA. However, Front 242's image is blurred by a martial radicalism that attracts fans from extreme right-wing movements. 1991's Tyranny >For You< saw Front 242 move towards a complex, techno-like sound, while 1993's 06:21:03:11 Up Evil and 05:22:09:12 Off put a little more pressure on the industrial techno pedal. After splitting up in 1993, Front 242 returned in 2003 with the dense Pulse, followed in 2008 by Moments 1. A group in a class of their own, Front 242 has inspired many other artists, from U2 to Nine Inch Nails.
