Froukje

Froukje Veenstra, born on September 4, 2001 in Nieuwkoop, Netherlands, is a Dutch pop and synthpop singer and songwriter. She began her music career in 2020 with the climate-critical song "Groter Dan Ik", which quickly went viral and established her as an up-and-coming talent in the Dutch music business. The success of her single led to the release of her first EP Licht en Donker in 2021, which reached number 2 in the Dutch album charts. Froukje plays both solo and in a backing band that supports her live performances. Her songs are characterized by profound lyrics about human emotions and social issues, which she combines with catchy pop melodies. Her style is strongly reminiscent of artists such as Eefje de Visser and Stromae. Following the success of her EPs, Froukje released her debut album Noodzakelijk Verdriet in January 2024, which immediately entered the Dutch and Flemish charts at number 1. The best-known songs on the album include "Als Ik God Was", "Naar Het Licht" and "Houden Van Mij". Froukje has already won numerous awards, including several 3FM Awards and two Edison Awards for her EPs Licht en Donker and Uitzinnig. She was also honored as Ambassador of Freedom at the Bevrijdingsfestival 2023.
