Gabi Delgado-López

Born in Cordoba (Spain) on April 18, 1958, Gabriel Delgado-Lopez first came to prominence through his collaboration with German Robert Görl in the duo Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, whose innovative musical style combined German krautrock, punk, industrial music and the new electronic wave. Absent from the recording of the group's first album, Ein Produkt der D.A.F. (1979), the guitarist and singer reunited with his accomplice when they moved to London in 1980. Until 1982, the duo, signed to the Virgin label, produced a series of four cult albums, whose influence was to prove enduring. Based in Switzerland, Delgado produced his first solo album Mistress (1985), then reunited with Görl for 1st Step to Heaven (1986). In Berlin, he embarked on a DJ career and turned to house music. In 1995, he formed the DAF/DOS project with German actor Wotan Mike Wöhring, then made a final comeback with D.A.F. for the album Fünfzehn Neue D.A.F. Lieder (2003). He made two further solo albums, 1 ( 2014) and 2 (2015), before passing away on March 22, 2020 at the age of 61.
