Gaia Gozzi (September 29, 1997), known mononymously as Gaia, is an Italian singer-songwriter who first jumped into the public eye as the runner-up on the tenth season of X Factor in 2016. Born in the city of Guastalla in Emilia-Romagna to a Brazilian mother and an Italian father, she often honors her Latin heritage by incorporating Portuguese into her songs. In 2016, she became a contestant on the show X Factor under the tutelage of rapper Fedez, reaching the semi-finals and finishing in second place. Her debut EP New Dawns was released later that year and its title track cracked the Italian Top 10, obtaining gold certification by FIMI after selling over 25,000 units. In 2019, Gaia was crowned winner of the nineteenth season of the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi. Most of the songs she wrote during the program made their way into her studio debut Genesi (2020), which peaked at Number 3 on the Italian Albums Chart thanks to well-received singles like “Chega” and “Coco Chanel.” Only a year later, Gaia competed at the Sanremo Music Festival 2021 and placed 19th with the single “Cuore Amaro.” The track was later included in her sophomore effort Alma (2021) alongside the gold-selling single “Boca” featuring Sean Paul. A holiday reissue titled Alma - Christmas Edition arrived shortly after, as well as the single “What Christmas Means to Me,” which went to Number 24 on the Italian Singles Chart.
