Gaza Slim is the stage name of Jamaican singer-songwriter Vanessa Saddler, who also goes by the name Vanessa Bling. Born on February 19, 1991, in St. Andrew, Jamaica, she began singing in high school and church choirs, and made her official recording debut in 2007 by providing background vocals to the Twin of Twins' "Only God Knows." This led to a creative and professional partnership with dancehall artist Vybz Kartel, with whom she collaborated on several hit singles, including "One Man," "Can't Do Without Me," "Anything a Anything," and "Like a Jockey." After being involved in a murder case that ended up with Vybz Kartel getting a life sentence in 2011, Gaza Slim served a brief time in prison and then spent a few years on parole, releasing music sporadically. However, the two would keep on collaborating on releases like "Reparation" (2012) or their 2014 joint album, Duet. In 2017, Gaza Slim experienced a surge in popularity after American rapper Cardi B featured her 2012 song "Everything Fi Hold Him" in one of her social media videos. She capitalized on this by releasing the EP Still Standing (2018), which spawned the hit "10 Bags."
