Gazelle Twin

Gazelle Twin, the moniker of UK experimental composer and producer Elizabeth Bernholz (née Walling, born 1981) is a visionary artist known for her boundary-pushing explorations of identity, technology, and social commentary. Since her debut in 2011 with The Entire City, she has forged a unique path in the avant-garde and electronic music scenes, crafting unsettling soundscapes and visceral performances. Her 2014 album Unflesh delved into themes of body horror and adolescence, using minimal beats and distorted vocals to evoke raw emotion. Gazelle Twin gained further acclaim with 2018's Pastoral, a searing critique of nationalism and societal decay set against an eerie, folk-inspired soundscape. Known for her use of theatrical costumes—most famously her red hoodie and tights-clad "Pastoral" character—she transforms her performances into immersive, almost dystopian experiences. Gazelle Twin's work challenges conventions and invites listeners into a dark, thought-provoking world where music and performance art collide. Her 2023 album Black Dog solidified her as a bold force in experimental music and drew critical acclaim. In October 2024, she teamed up with several artists including Gary Numan to release a companion piece to Black Dog, titled Shadow Dogs.
