GD & TOP was a South Korean hip-hop/pop duo formed in 2010 by G-Dragon and T.O.P, both of whom were members of the K-pop boy band Big Bang. The announcement of their formation was made by agency YG Entertainment in November 2010, and they released their self-titled album, GD&TOP (2010), soon after that. The LP debuted at number 1 on the Circle Albums Chart with pre-orders of 200,000 copies and sold over 130,000 copies within a week, becoming the fifth best-selling album of 2010 in South Korea. By 2015, sales had reached 200,000 copies. Their first album featured the hits "High High," "Oh Yeah," and "Knock Out," all of which made the Top 5 of the Circle Digital Chart. The group was awarded Best Rap/Hip Hop Award at the Melon Music Awards in 2011 for "Oh Yeah." After a four-year hiatus, GD & TOP returned in 2015 with the single "Zutter." The song was a commercial success, peaking at number 2 on the South Korean Digital and Download charts and selling nearly a million copies by the end of 2015. It also made it to number 2 on the US Billboard World Digital Songs. Though the group discontinued activity after that, their influence on the Korean music industry was strong. In 2012, "Knock Out" and "High High" were listed among the best K-Pop music videos of all time by Stereogum and Spin Magazine.
